GENERAL
RULES
1.
AQHA Horse Show rules will be strictly enforced where applicable.
No protests, other than circumstances covered in the Official
AQHA Rule Book, will be considered.
The judge's decision is final.
2.
All entry fees must be paid before leaving the show grounds.
Make checks payable to Sherlock Farms. A fee of $25.00 will be
assessed on all checks returned for any reason.
3.
Youth classes are limited to persons 18 years of age and younger. The age of the exhibitor shall be determined as of January 1
of the calendar year. No
stallions or colts are permitted in the youth activities classes.
4.
Performance classes are open to all breeds unless stated
otherwise.
5.
Attire: Western hat,
boots, and long sleeve shirts are mandatory in all western classes,
showmanship- jacket is optional. Hard
hat, boots and breeches are mandatory in all English classes, coat is
optional. There are no
attire requirements for the Lead Line class.
6.
Registration will close at the beginning of the preceding class.
7.
Exhibitors must declare for High Point at time of registration. The points will be kept on a one horse/one rider combination.

8.
Exhibitors must be ready at the gate and enter the arena promptly.
You must notify the gateman if a tack change is needed or
equipment problem occurs. The
gate will be closed two (2) minutes after the first call for a missing
exhibitor (unless otherwise notified).
Exhibitors will not be allowed to enter the arena after the gate
is closed.
9.
Unsportsmanlike conduct by any exhibitor, trainer or rider will not
be tolerated.
Violators will be excused from the arena.
11.
Inhumane treatment, cruelty, or abuse of a horse anywhere on the
show grounds by any person is forbidden and renders the offender subject
to penalty. The Show
Management may bar violators from further participation for the
remainder of the show.
12.
Negative
Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) Test within the last 12 months is
required for all horses.
Test document must be
in hand.
13.
The Show Management has the authority to:
a) Split and/or combine classes as necessary.
Classes with fewer than 3 entries will be combined.
Classes with more than 20 entries will be split into heats.
b) Refuse, accept conditionally, and/or cancel any entries.
c) Disqualify exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, and
cancel awards of prizes, without claims for damage.
d) Settle all questions of dispute incident to the Open Horse
Show.
14.
Exhibitors
will be solely responsible for any consequential or other loss, injury
or damage done to or occasioned by, or arising from any horse or article
owned or exhibited by him/her and shall indemnify the GCF&R and/or
any agent thereof, against all legal or other proceedings, claims or
demands of any kind or nature in regard thereto, or that may arise from
the negligence of the person in charge of any such horse or article.
Each participant is
required to sign an Indemnity Form and Emergency Medical Form along with
the Entry Form. Failure to
complete these forms will result in disqualification.
CLASS
DESCRIPTION
1.
Youth
Lead Line
(8 years and under) - To be shown at a walk only, exhibitors in this
class may not cross enter into any other class at this show that
requires a jog/trot or lope. Horse
must be shown in appropriate equipment, including bridle and saddle with
the addition of a lead line or halter and lead line.
Equipment may be English or Western.
2.
Walk/Trot
open classes may cross enter as long as exhibitors have not competed in
any other walk/trot classes(at this show) not designated open.
Walk/Trot will not count toward High Point.
3.
Walk/Trot
Championships- cost of championship class is $10. Awards are champion
and reserve rosettes
4.
Novice
- For the purpose of this show, a Novice is an exhibitor/horse
combination which has not won 3 first place awards at any show. The novice exhibitor may cross enter into other classes.
Novice will not count for High Point awards.
5.
Hunter
Hack-
horses will be required to jump two 2’ cross bar jumps 36’ apart.
then horses shown together at a walk, trot, canter both ways of
the ring. the judge may ask
for extended gaits
6.
Ride
a buck-
(no class fees)a dollar bill will be placed under the leg of exhibitor
who is riding bareback. The
horses will be shown at walk, trot, and canter if required.
Last exhibitor with their dollar will win the dollars from the
other exhibitors.
7.
Egg
and spoon: riders
will hold a hard boiled egg on a spoon at requested gaits, last to have
their egg on the spoon wins a show quality lunge line
8.
Boot
race-riders
will remove one boot and place it at the end of the ring.
riders will then remount and on signal race to end of ring find
one’s own boot and put it on and race back to the start line.
First rider to cross the line with his/her own boot wins a prize.
The management of this show and their
officers, director, employees, members or agents is not responsible for
any claims, loss, damage,
injury or death to exhibitors, horses, or spectators
while they are on the show grounds.
